For the Seventh Sanctum Tarot Contest.

Generators used: The Tarot Card Generator

My description of the card's meaning is based on the formatting of card descriptions in Tarot: Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis. I figured it would be a good reference point and way to make sure I covered the basics.

Upright: Becoming at peace with oneself.

Key Words and Phrases: Meditation. Good karma. Getting along with others. Peace. Coming full circle. Balance. Completion of a spiritual task. Solution to a problem. Enlightenment.

Situation and Advice: A great burden has been or soon will be lifted and you can at last relax. You will find the solution you seek to a problem. The Eight of Lanterns upright can sometimes mean a religious epiphany that changes your life for the better.

People: Monks or other practitioners of meditation.

Eight of Lanterns Reversed: Mental strain.

Key Words and Phrases: Stress. Discord. Frustration. Obstacles. Unable to complete projects. Being left in the dark. Success just out of reach. Bad karma.

Situation and Advice: Something in your life is causing serious mental frustration and creating undo stress. You are mentally overwhelmed. The Eight of Lanterns reversed can sometimes mean a religious doctrine confuses you or contradicts your personal beliefs.

People: Parents. Neurotics. High-strung individuals.

Thanks so much! Creating the lighting was an interesting task; I actually started with just the lit lanterns and a mirrored ball in the center of the scene. I rendered it, unwrapped the reflection off the ball, and used that to create an HDRI light map. Then, I added the faerie to the scene, the HDRI light probe with the light map I made, and rendered. Some postwork in Photoshop, and it was done.

So, counting all the lights in the single light map, there are 16 lights total in the scene.
