Nathan gave her a thin frown. "He's been badly injured," he explained. "And I think for now it'd be better just for people he knows to visit. I don't know what kind of shape he's in."
The photographer pouted and sighed, but nodded in resignation. "Okay," she breathed. "I'll just... wait for Scott in the lobby." Susan gave him a tentative smile. "It was nice meeting you, Nathan." They exchanged brief farewell waves before she left down the hall.
Nathan wondered how much of his scant ten minutes he had lost talking to her as he entered Alton's room.
