I don't like where this is going at all...
"Well?" Gula prompted, resting her head against him. "What do you think? Let me free. Set us both free..."
Luckily, she'd decided to nuzzle up on his good shoulder, because the writer couldn't bear to have her clinging to him much longer. With all the force he could manage, Nathan thrust his shoulder back, trying to shake her. "Get the fuck off of me," he gritted through his teeth. "Get the hell away!"
The Sin grunted and released her hold, sloughing off of him and falling back. Nathan tried to turn to see if Lumiel had managed to free himself, but Gula screamed in his ear, grabbing onto his hair and jerking his head back. "Imbecile!" she cried, her eyes growing wide. Still holding on, she twisted her body to move in front of him, her mouth spreading into a wicked grin. "Guess you're only good for one thing..." Her mouth continued to stretch, the corners reaching the edge of her jaw as she opened it wide, the bottom extending further than it should have been able to. Saliva dripped from large, razor-like teeth that filled her gaping maw, and a deep growl rose from her throat.
Paralyzing fear wash over Nathan, realizing what she was about to do and that there was no way for him to escape. A rumbling, horrific laugh came from the Sin as she lunged towards him.
The shout came moments before the creature was suddenly flung back by some unseen force, releasing Nathan's head and slamming into another post across the room. Gula's mouth snapped back to its original size, and her body bent and wrapped around the post like a rag-doll. She crumpled to the ground, but was already trying to pull herself back to her feet.
Nathan would have kept his eye on her if not for the hand that brushed his shoulder. He started and looked back just as Lumiel chuckled. "Very clever, taunting her like that," the angel said to him with a smile. He placed one hand over the ropes around Nathan's wrists; the binds fell apart in a shower of hempen threads. "Excessively dangerous, but effective."
"Seriously?" Nathan rubbed his wrists, his skin raw from the rubbing, and stood. For a moment, he was relieved that Lumiel had gotten himself free, but that relief was shattered when he finally saw him. Despite the angel's reassuring smile, he seemed to be forcing back pain. The chains around his hands were gone, but the ones in his wings were still attached, broken away from the ceiling but still weighing him down. And the amount of blood trickling down from them onto the floor seemed to have worsened.
"Yes, seriously," Lumiel said to him before he could remark on his condition. "All angels are guardians at heart, even when we don't have our own charge. Putting yourself in imminent danger was a brilliant way to allow me to break free. As I said before: dangerous, but effective."
"Not for long!"
Gula was back on her feet, making a staggering charge towards them. "You tricked me! Trickery! Worse slave of the Devil... let him keep you trapped then!"
Lumiel stopped smiling and put himself between Nathan and the Sin. His eyes narrowed and turned red. "Leave now, Gula, and perhaps I'll allow you a longer run. Attack again, and I'll seal you away like your sister."
"I'll break your wings off!" the Sin shrieked and lunged herself at them.
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, but right now we just need to get out of this. Lumiel's weak; he's badly injured and he didn't fair well in the last fight he had with one of the Sins. Maybe I should summon backup... but what if that makes things worse? What should I do?
