It was agreed that it was too late to go to the warehouse that night, and everyone felt a good night's rest was needed before they confronted whatever waited for them there. It was early the next morning, shortly after sunrise, when there was a loud banging on the door to the bar downstairs. Snow bolted upright in her cot, and very nearly screamed when she was startled by the large cheetah curled up at her feet, purring in his sleep. It took a moment for her waking mind to remember it was Guy, but she still held her breath as she carefully slid her feet out from under the large cat. The cheetah stirred, stretching out and pawing the air, but remained asleep.
Snow shook her head and went downstairs.
Lina was already awake and making coffee and tea, everyone's mugs lined up on the counter. She gave Snow a nod and filled her cup with coffee before sliding it and the cream and sugar towards her. "Good morning, sunshine. Sleep well?"
The banging on the door again.

Gabriel is my guardian. If there's anyone I should talk to, it should be him.
With a hesitant smile, the writer turned towards the angel again. "Alton," he said calmly. "Why don't you let Lidia keep you company for the day? Lately, you've seemed happier when she's around. I'll stop by Gabriel's and talk with him. Maybe if I confront him, I can trip him up, find out if he's done anything. I still doubt it, but you never know. He might tell me, especially if he feels guilty about it."
Alton lifted his head and looked at Nathan wearily, but a weak smile appeared on his lips. "It's been a very long time since I've been so challenged," he said with a sigh. "I'm not on my game as much as I used to be. I appreciate your offer, but I'm not sure it will be worth the effort."
"Will it hurt to try?"
The angel thought about it, then sighed, shaking his head as he straightened. "No, it won't hurt to try, and I'll gladly watch Lidia in the meantime. She can come back with me to

I know he feels protective of Lidia, but it may be more important to mention that feather.
"Okay." Nathan swallowed another bite of lunch before he continued. "I'll cut to the chase: I think Gula was wearing one of your feathers in her hair."
Alton very nearly choked on the sip of water he'd just taken. "She what?"
The writer winced. "She was wearing a black feather in her hair when I saw her. I'm pretty sure it was one of yours, unless there's some other reason she could have been wearing it..."
"Doubtful." Alton rubbed his temples. "I'd wondered how she'd managed a human form, being severed from her host. I couldn't imagine she'd somehow gotten another one; doing that requires... never mind." He shook his head and sighed, smiling uneasily. "Please tell me she didn't look much different than she did at the factory, when you first saw her."
"No, not much, just less... piggy." Nathan tried to smile back. "I'm guessing the Sins can't take human form on their

The silence was palpable. With that smile still stretched across his face, the man walked up to the bar, stopped for a moment to fish some money from his pocket, then turned to Treddz. "Here's a little extra for your pains. I appreciate the service."
She swiped the cash from his hand without hesitation and made a small bow. "Pleasure doin' business with you sir!" Treddz straightened, then turned and gave Alistair a little salute. "See ya' 'round, Ali!" With that, she bounced out of the bar the same way she came in.
As soon as she was gone, the man's smile vanished, and he looked pointedly at Snow and Parker. "Now, conversation."
"I'm not in not in the mood for conversations," Parker drawled, returning the glare.
"What do you want, Artemis?" Snow shot at him, her confident tone somewhat forced. "God, of all the Gray-cloaks the Council could have sent, it had to be you."
"Missed you too, Miss Niveus." Artemis pushed his glasses up the brid
