As mentioned in part one, naming characters can be difficult, and knowing what to avoid is the first step to creating realistic names. The next is tweaking existing names and words into something fantastic. Below is a simple formula that can transform any name into that of an epic hero.

Step 1: Chose a base name/word. To begin with, chose a base name or word for your character's name. The names of gemstones and botanicals work well, and perusing a baby name book can spark some ideas. For this example, we'll work with two different bases: the name of a spice (saffron) and an actual name (Eunice).

Players want their characters to have awesome, fantastic names, but choosing one (or, more often, creating one) can be a challenge even the most veteran player is hesitant to tackle. This was a sudden inspiration drawn around midnight. Cheshire, in his new form, no longer evil and separated from Cameron at last. His hair has gotten longer, and he finally has complete control over his own life... well, almost. Now he's under a geas and bound to loyally serve the mage who created him. Poor Cheshire. I decided not to ink this one and use the coarser pencil lines in the final image instead. Drawn free-hand and colored in Photoshop.

Thanks. ^_^ I also did it to save some time, since I usually ink in Photoshop. I really like how this turned out very much though.

you're able to ink in photoshop? I thought you had to use freehand or another program to ink then bring it into photoshop

I use the pencil tool to "ink" over the hand-drawn lines. It's an art I've sort of master with the touchpad on my lapton

Yeah, it took A LOT of practice to get it right. I have a PC, but it's practically a rock, so I don't get to use my mouse as much. I also have a tablet, but I've gotten so used to the touchpad, I just don't bother hooking it up.
