Stygian Codex - Chapter 16Chapter 16
"So what's the name of this place again?" Que asked for the sixth time that hour. Since they'd left Fandura, she'd been asking non-stop about where they were going next. Especially since her request to go to Sylvora again was (repeatedly) rejected. Liam took a long drag on his cigarette before looking down at her.
"Malosur," he told her for the sixth time. Que promptly began to scan the map she'd pulled out.
The pilot rolled his eyes and leaned over her shoulder to look over the map himself. After a moment, he pointed to a dot near a fold in the paper.
"There," he said. "Looks like you've folded and unfolded this so much it wore out the name."
Que wrinkled her nose at him and sat down on the deck, pulling out a pencil so she could circle the spot.
"I'm just trying to keep a record of where I've been," she explained. "In case I find anything relevant, since we can't go to Sylvora yet."

"So, what do you think?"
Que was practically bouncing when she was finally able to get Brogan to look at her drawing. She'd been forced to wait until the mechanic had finished making the repairs on Ophelia's arm, upgrading it to something more suitable, and the waiting had made her even more excited. "It's... very good," Brogan said carefully. She picked up a pencil, as if to make an edit, but instead tucked it behind her ear.
"Very, very good."
She stared at the designs for a long while, before she took the pencil out and scribbled a few corrections in Que's calculations. Then she stopped, put the pencil back on

Malcolm needed a few hours of sleep too, so The Green Gambler didn't leave Escer until early afternoon. Malcolm had a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette on his lips as he piloted his ship toward Fandura. He had a round of medicine and food to get to the people there whose trade lines had been cut off by the Enlightened. They were protected by walls and were a little out of the way, but all the cities nearby had been destroyed or taken over. Their survival had made them isolated, and they were just one of the many places that the Enlightened had devastated by destroying everything else.
Their isolation made them weaker. It was only a matter of time before the Enlightened came for them too. Especially since they had a decent amount of mechanical engineers in their midst.
They arrived late in the evening. Malcolm docked, paid his dues for docking, sent out runners to inform the militia he had arrived with supplies. They got back to him saying they'd be ther
